The mission of St Barnabas’ Church is to share Jesus’ transforming love through our words and actions. We give thanks to God for his blessing and guidance as we work towards this. We also acknowledge with gratitude our members’ commitment and generosity in time, money, skills and prayer.

This generosity enables us to fulfil our mission through:

. a growing regular worshipping community
· baptism, confirmation and funeral services
· discipleship groups, prayer meetings and other prayer ministry
· pastoral care
· children and youth work
· outreach through Alpha, Barnabees, Harbour Café and Tea @ 2:30
· and through our celebrations of Easter, Mid-Autumn Festival, Christmas, Lunar New Year and Burns Night
· the provision of great facilities for community groups and private celebrations
· connections with local schools
· charitable giving

You can join in supporting our work through the Parish Giving Scheme and by leaving a legacy in your will. Read on for more information.

Parish Giving Scheme

A one-off or regular monthly, quarterly or annual gift to support the work of the church can be made via the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS).
There is also now the option to set up a separate regular gift to support our Children Youth and Families Worker.
Regular gifts incur zero transaction charges and help the church to plan its finances.
If you are a taxpayer, giving permission for PGS to claim Gift Aid on your behalf means the government pay us an extra 25%.

For anyone wishing to set up a regular or a one-off gift to the church:
  • The simplest way is online, click here to get started.
  • Or click here to support our Children Families and Youth Worker
  • Or phone: 0333 002 1271, Monday to Friday 9.00am–5.00pm
  • Or complete and post the application form available here.

You will need your bank details to set up the Direct Debit and, for phone or postal applications, St Barnabas' unique parish code is 460646026. The code for the Children Families and Youth Worker fund is 46A646026.

Leaving a Legacy in your Will

Once you have made provision for your loved ones, you can continue to support our mission and ministry by leaving a gift in your Will. This is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support our work.
For example, a timely legacy gift from the late Ken Woodhead was the seed from which our recent roof appeal grew to fruition.
Making a Will can typically cost over £150, but you can write your Will for free using Farewill. The Church of England has partnered with Farewill, a trusted Will writing website, to offer congregation members the chance to write their Will for free.
We recommend that you also read St Barnabas’ PCC’s Legacy Policy.
We pray that as you plan to distribute your estate, you will feel encouraged to remember your church family, and we invite you to consider how a gift in your Will could help this church meet the needs of future generations.
